A painting by any other name

I need a little bit of help.

I've been hard at work on my latest little painting and I just got it done. I was waiting to surprise you all so that's why I kept mum despite Bean asking nicely what I was up to (I'm a little stinker sometimes, aren't I?) and even though I like how it turned out I have no idea what to call it.

So I put this question to all my fellow blogging friends and followers, what would you call this?

I really don't want to have to go with something dull like "Blue Waterfall" or "Water water everywhere." There is the more mystic "Whistlers mother in blue and white" but I think that would just confuse people.

What are your best ideas?

Picture a Day - Day 64

My husband regularly pesters me in the hope that I'll bring back a special menu every night. Sometimes it's just not possible, others I'm not in the mood.

But last night, as the week wears on and I look forward to a hopeful spring warm up (we may get into the 60's tomorrow!) I relented.

Just what is this magical and special dinner night? Yep, it's Leftovers.

For me, leftovers are just a way to clean out the fridge and not have to think of a new meal for a night (oh how I hate that sometimes).

But for my husband it's a challenge combined with an adventure. He loves to travel deep within the recesses of our fridge (which really isn't as scary as others as he's always doing this) and find all the enigmatic and threatening gladware dishes.

He gets a giddy little thrill mixing and matching each dish. Old couscous with a side of chicken from Famous Daves and my barbecue sauce hamburger and potato mix for a starter. Then move onto some hamburger helper with a side of pork and noodles in my homemade alfredo sauce (I should share that recipe sometimes it's incredibly easy but so tasty).

As for me, I have some old chili and a bit of coleslaw and call it good.

I'm very lucky to have a human garbage disposal as I am terrible about wanting to revisit meals. I think I just tire of something too quickly (except for chili, I love that stuff) and by the time I want to eat it again any leftovers in the fridge are green.

How do you approach leftover night? Is it an exciting time to recreate weird mixes of dishes or do you put it off as long as possible like me?

A little reader

Yesterday I was sitting in my office a bit bored (the cells were taking a nap, shh) messing with my latest book du jor. Then all of a sudden a cloud shifted and the sun came out in full force shining down upon the book.

So I did what any normal, well adjusted camera carrying psycho would. I took off my ring, placed it on my book and then took about 30 pictures.
These are my two favorite "poses." I'm beginning to realize that I really need to start carrying around some other little prop I can leave places (maybe I'll steal that Traveling gnome when no one is looking).

Wouldn't this be a weird new way to have book reviews? Instead of just pictures of the book taken from Amazon, you did a fancy photoshoot. Hm . . .I suppose I should share what the book is after making you look at it, eh?

It's called A Sundial in a Grave: 1610 and if there are any Dumas, 1600's France, or James I of England fans you may want to pick this up. Or if you just really like the word doublet. He he he doublet.

My desk at work is surprisingly simple, just two drawers on the side and a small pencil tray that one can lock (though I hope no one does as God only knows where the key is and I fear he was busy with other things to pay attention) but contained within one of those drawers is a little secret treasure.

I tried to draw a map to show off just how important it is and how good I am at drawing X's but then some pirates suddenly burst in asking if I'd seen a few Ninjas and grabbed it. Instead I'll offer you a quick sneak peek at my little desk treasure with my friend the digital camera.
First we have to find the right spot, then it's time to break out the shovels and start digging.
All right! Pay dirt! Texas T! And even the bag says there's a little something for everyone! I still have to use up one more exclamation point!
Why it's full of silver and gold nuggets, and rubies the size of your thumb. Finally I can retire from my high seas adventure life and settle in with a good book and a few tasty chocolates.
And before you ask, no I get no temptation calls from them sitting right next to me all throughout the day. Probably because I have no qualms with eating two or three a day to satiate my sweet tooth and sometimes my brain just needs a quick shot of glucose.

My favorite is probably the dark chocolate ones, though the baby Mr. Goodbars always hold a special place in my heart too (and really how else do you find them?)

Anyone else have their own little candy treasure stash that you may or may not share with certain other people in your office? Which one of my little treasures do you covet the most?

I'm a Deviant

This painting thing that started as a whim is, I fear, slowly morphing into a weird obsession.

And so many people, both on-line and in real life, keep encouraging me. In fact it's gotten so bad I was even asked to join an art website.

It's kinda cool actually, you can upload anything from photographs to drawings to traditional oil paintings to show off. And if you so desire you can also offer the ability for anyone to buy a print of your picture.

That's right, for a low fee you could yourself have a print of say Napping Puppy or Blue Winter (I keep calling everything blue this, blue that. I really need to hire someone just to name these things). Or if there is a painting of mine you just fall madly in love with I really wouldn't have any qualms giving it away (except for the invisible people, I'm going to hang those one of these days).

Even though I've posted every picture so far on my blog here's my little gallery page. And really if you have any art flapping about and want to make a page tell me about it. I'd love to follow you or whatever it is they call it there.
