Picture a Day - Day 216

My husband and I have the strangest fascination with certain things.

The latest thrill comes courtesy of the $1 rack at Target. In the stone age days of our dating we got one of those sponge capsule packs of barn yard animals and laughed uproariously at what actually came out compared to what the packaging promised.

The poor rabbit looked like he was hit by a semi.

Over the weekend, we felt a pang of nostalgia and picked up another version of the little Magic Capsules. This time with sea creatures.

It was fun watching them grow and trying to decide just what the hell everything was (the Marlin looks like he has a giant growth on his back). Then I got an idea in my brain and after a trip to Michaels, a few hours with paint, some time with rubber cement and a bit of knife play I came up with this:

This will be headed into that ocean bathroom, and if we ever get tired of the little sponges I can easily pull them out and put something a bit more realistic in there.

It is kinda funny just how much I find myself using my painting techniques to help decorate the house so far. I took the white box out of the shadow box and painted the whole thing to have an underwater look.

Our living room is more and more starting to accent the painting I did for the fireplace after getting dark blue curtains and a black entertainment stand. (No dead trees yet though, have to wait til winter for that).

Man two days of boring, look at what we bought for the house posts. Sorry about that. I promise something much better tomorrow, maybe with roller skating dinosaurs. Or windmills that shoot lasers. That's be pretty awesome, right?
