Hurray pictures are here!

I finally got the last of the pro pics including the coveted receptions ones. We also got all the ceremony proofs that they didn't use and I just had to share two I found hilarious:
I have no idea what the hell we're doing here but it sure looks like fun.
Kids, gotta love 'em.

And now for the reception pictures. There are so many fun ones it'll take me a few days to show them all off.
The best part of having a costume reception, everyone gets really into it (though they may just be drunk)
My Mother went all out, but I really love my face up in the corner. I have no idea what I was doing but it sure looks scary.
How many brides can say they had to draw on their flower girls boob for the wedding?
Showing off my fabulous tail. You can tell just how proud I am, though that thing was a pain in the ass to sit on.

I'll end for now on my all time favorite picture, two kids covered in sugary goo going in for more.

Oops

In flipping through the ol' archive I realized that I never did share the rest of the pictures from our little day after picture shoot (If you want to see the first post it's here) And I may add I'm still waiting for the rest of the pro ones, do de do:
I call this the "I will be in charge of the remote" stare.
What you don't know about this picture, just outside the screen there's a family of bears sitting on the table having a picnic. I told them to avoid the blond girl.

On the count of three we rush the camera. One . . . two . . . THREE!

We tried to recreate the whole kissing under the veil look, though it wasn't actually my veil.
As you can see, we failed horribly at it.

For reasons that escape me we felt like we just had to mimic american gothic. It was funny at the time, I swear.
After a long day of taking pictures we both needed a nap. Ignore the fact that my husband looks like a corpse.

Okay now go enter this weeks contest down below. Chop chop.

Random pictures part 30

I've been going through trying to oomph some of my favorite wedding pictures. These are what I've gotten done so far:
If anyone is curious how I did it, feel free to leave a comment or e-mail me. I think my favorite so far was making the fake watercolor one.

Texture

Jenna at That Bride yesterday posted a tutorial on how to texturize a photo and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for it.

I've done a bit of messing around with photoshop in my spare time but I've never tried to add texture to a picture before, til now:

This was my first attempt. I used some grass and weeds behind and of course dropped the saturation like a stone. For a comparison this is what the original looked like.

I wanted to see what I could do with this favorite picture of my tall flower girl:

She's got some gorgeous water hidden behind her. I also played that up by making the background a lot bluer. Here is the original for a comparison.

This last one was a bit more work but I wanted to try something a bit outside of my comfort zone:
This was my layer extrodinare as I wanted to make it look like we were made out of flames but not the whole picture. It involved a lot of boring rearanging, copying, and erasing that I am sure you don't care about. But the original is this.

I can't wait to try a few others, especially once I hopefully get in the rest of the reception pictures (this waiting thing really sucks). I have some really cool Halloween ideas.

Once again thanks so much Jenna, and you guys really got to go check out her tutorial.

Photoshop is fun

I have been a photobucket junkie for a few years now. It used to be that they'd just host my random avatars and other pictures I wanted to share, but they've somewhat recently added an "edit photo" option and I've been using the hell out of it to mess with my wedding pictures.

It's generally just been having fun with the saturation. In this one I can make just the flowers pop utilizing the layer tool: For this one I did some cropping and cranked the saturation the other way. But because of the fact that our skin is still showing I did have to layer that underneath so we didn't look like boiled lobsters.
Okay so this was just a simple macro on the edit site to turn your picture into a cartoon but I like it. It's subtle but still looks like a drawing.
Keeping with subtle, for this one I just totally dropped the saturation, softened it up a bit, oh and totally deleted the background. It's eerie just how similar they all look though.
But the guys can't have all the fun. This was probably my most complicated picture. First I changed the background, then I needed to make myself some green skin so another fun layer. I didn't want to completely make it B&W so somethings would pop.

Then it was just a matter of adding some fog and voila, a spooky bridal threeway.

As a bonus here's a picture I made real quick of the in-laws. I promise it was just for fun, not because I really think they're all a bunch of blood sucking vampires.

Is anyone else planning on getting their proofs and do a little editing themselves? Once you get into it and mess around it really isn't as scary as you'd think (undo is your friend). Even with those really picture perfect professional shots it's still a lot of fun to play and see what you can come up with.

Ceremony pro pics

Here are a few of the professional ceremony pictures from Sisters Photography that aren't the okay stand the bride and groom up and change everyone behind them. Everyone has to do them (especially to appease parents) and everyone has seen basically the same thing.

So instead here are the pictures at the ceremony of us being ourselves.

This is a posed picture, but I swear to God both of those guys make the exact same faces in regular life.
I just love my tall flowergirl. My best friend and I are kinda goofy sometimes, she sure loves the rabbit ears.

I love this picture as she's smiling just as bright as ever but as you go down you can see that she's shifting her feet in her shoes just like a little kid."Okay Dad, now you got to take a right. What do you mean you're at the airport? How the hell did you wind up there?"I call this my "I am waiting for a bus" pose. It'll be all the rage in weddings soon, trust me.Help, my neck is being eaten by flora! Get the roundup! We had a few write ins for the ring bearer after a failed nap and some anxiety disorder.I so badly wanted a picture of me and my friends. While I had a relatively small party some of my good friends filled what some would think as less glamorous roles because they wanted to (IE why I had a 21 year old flower girl and someone on guestbook). And just because they weren't bridesmaids or have to get special dresses didn't mean I did not want some pictures with them. We're still waiting on the reception ones, which I am sure are way more fascinating (I think there's a picture of me drawing on my tall flower girls boob).

A pro pic sneak peak

We just got our professional pictures in yesterday and while I've been fighting with photobucket to get them uploaded I've flipped through some but still have to pick which ones I like best.

I do have a few little sneak peaks to show you all though (I'm sure you're just thrilled at this point. In fact I bet you woke up thinking, God I hope I get to see more wedding pictures from someone who's already posted all of theirs).

And since on can only take so much sap on a lazy Sunday morning, here's a fun candid shot where it looks like someone killed the bride. I'm actually leaning back trying to get a hold of an unhappy toddler but I like the other story much better.

We still have to wait on a bunch of the reception pictures, which I'm sure you're all much more excited about.

Ceremony music with a twist

I am beginning to realize that most of the posts this week are going to be devoted to all those little surprises from the wedding. I first had the bouquet toss fight (which was somewhat thought of in advance) and today I have something I am overjoyed to share.

As some of you may remember, I decided that rather than scouring over music and picking what my very talented organist should play I'd just let him choose. After all he's been doing weddings since he could reach the pedals, he'd know exactly what would be different and fit us.

But instead of him picking a unique song not played often he did something completely unexpected, he combined a few surprising songs.

I was so shocked at the rehearsal I realized that I had to have them filmed. So the day of was quickly followed by me begging a camera off my dad and then subsequently finding someone to hold it.

And rather than telling you all about it, I thought I'd let you hear and see. Also I'm not gonna say exactly what he played but you can all take your guesses in the comments.

Here's the "Here comes the Bride" ala my organist:

He'd been threatening to have me walk down the aisle so much that I wasn't expecting it, so as you can see about the time I figured it out I broke out into laughter.

In fact, it was too perfect for me as I was too busy listening to the music to realize that all the people in the church were looking at just me. Instead of looking scared and serious I was giggling down the aisle and I wouldn't have it any other way.

He also picked something just right for the Unity candle. Once I realized what it was, I started to well up a bit:

So Mr. Church organist, if you happen to be reading this for some reason (like your new wife is making you) thank you so much for making the wedding. The music was perfect for us and our twisted wedding.

I really can't praise enough how easy and fun it was to trust a professional who knew me to make a decision for the wedding. Delegation can be lots of fun.

Happy Halloween everybody!

This year, Christmas will be ours!

Sorry sorry, I just had to.

Well it's Halloween (or for those who love punctuation more Hallowe'en) that fun time of year when anyone can pretend to be someone or something else without being sent away for observation and kids knock on strangers doors and rather than getting the silent treatment receive candy.

Let's see, what else is Halloween? Oh right that wedding thing I had a couple weeks ago.Mwhahahahaha!

I thought now was the best time to share some personal reception pics and help to get us in the halloween spirit.

My Matron of Honor and best friend as the Bride of Frankenstein. She had the creepy bride eye thing down all night (I'm not sure if she even knew she was doing it)My tall flower girl and her boyfriend. They went as Bride of Chucky and Chucky. I just love this picture. Our ringbearer as cookie monster. I wish we had a picture of the shirt he was wearing underneath. His mom made a t-shirt with various organs on it and cookies in the stomach. It was so cool.

One of our table spreads. The guys worked really hard to bring it all together in a few ours without me being able to be there and tell them what to do. A lot got forgotten but at least it still looked neat.

A look at our head table (ignore the weirdo's kissing). It looked really cool, but a word of warning spider webs make eating really hard. Your knife and fork keep getting caught in it.Finally our cake. It had spiderwebs on the bottom, ghosts and leaves in the middle, and stars and a moon on the top. Plus it tasted delicious.

If you are still in the halloween mood I'd recommend checking out Creepy Cupcakes. She's planning a halloween wedding next year and has been sharing lots of cool Halloween stuff for the past few months.

Happy Halloween everybody!

A young romance

Weddings are a time of friendship and love. It's also a major subplot for a lot of romantic comedies.

Well we had a romance begin to bud at our wedding. It all started at the rehearsal. The boy was a bit late but as soon as he arrived and saw the girl it was magic. They kept staring at each other and running off together.

At one point, during the rehearsed line up, the two of them sat at the back on the stairs and put their arms around each other.

It became even more sealed the next day as the wedding began. When not taking pictures the two of them were found hiding in a back pew writing notes to each other. And though they walked down the aisle okay together he started to act a bit to immature for her.

Luckily all was forgiven once the reception started and the two of them bonded again over all the sweets on the table. Then when they saw the chance they made a B-line for the dance floor (long before we were even thinking to have our first dance) and even switched the suckers in their mouths while dancing.

And who are these two crazy little love birds? Why it would be our 3 year old Ring Bearer and the 5 year old flower girl. Don't believe me? Here are some pictures to prove it:

They were writing notes to each other. Though the flower girls started as "Dear Santa"

Uh oh, caught!

The ceremony. Look in the background. Though I will say that even though he was running around a bit he was dead quiet the whole time.

The candy was a huge success. Well at least for anyone younger than 5.

Ah young love. Maybe we'll have to celebrate their wedding next.
