We bought honey on our honeymoon

You know what, I haven't said word one about how the honeymoon went at all on here.

I've been a bit spastic in posting about stuff that happened first before the wedding, then long after, and then the day of. And I know me, I'll keep up with that obligatory here's what happened one day that I thought was super cool ooh look a squirrel. What were we talking about again?

I'll make this as quick and painless as possible. I wish I could do a hand puppet show on the internet, that would be the coolest way to recap the honeymoon. But alas we have not perfect the iPuppetshow yet.

Okay so first we stayed in a really gorgeous place:

Crossed the headwaters of the mississippi:
And looked like dorks for the camera:Then we did a bunch of really fun stuff that, well okay it was fun to us at the time. I'm sure it would bore you out of your chair.

Oh yeah, saw Paul Bunyons ass too: Then we packed up and traveled to the twin cities:

What?

Apparently we don't have a picture of that. So um just pretend you see a picture of a car traveling. You can even make the car noises if you want.

We did stop in the Halloween Capital of the world (And got some super cool Halloween stuff): Oh and as everyone knows if you stop anywhere near the Cities you have to go to The Mall. Yeah you know which one. We got more Halloween stuff there.

We also saw Death harvest a few clowns. He seemed to be really busy that night at ValleyScare: And now for the super coolest part of the trip. No it wasn't the Science Museum of Minnesota (And yes we are so sad that we'd spend our honeymoon in a Science Museum critiquing their labware).

We got to meet, talk to, and shake hands with these guys:

Joel Robinson and TV's Frank?!!

Sorry, but I'm still a bit in shock that I got to shake the hand of the creator of MST3K. Trace even talked about where we're from a bit and asked about a local resturant.

It was the best ending to any trip made all the much sweeter as it was our honeymoon. I'm so glad we went a bit off kilter and spent our honeymoon in exotic Minnesota.

The wedding night

It seems pretty typical for those who are planning a wedding to put a lot of thought into their wedding night, and while I have looked into the more typical stuff (it really isn't fair, there needs to be more lingerie options for guys damn it!) there is one thing we've both agreed just isn't worth it.

We're spending our wedding night in our bed in our apartment (as opposed to our bed out on the lawn).

I could say that it's just to save money for our rockin' honeymoon in exotic Minnesota but that isn't really why. It's the same reason we're both spending the night before the wedding (let's just call it wedding eve) together in our bed. There's no way we'd get any sleep in a new place.

I am terrible whenever I go anywhere new. I just can't sleep the first night (after that I'm fine), I spend most of the night up tossing and turning. Well my guy is generally the same way. And ever since we finished the long distance thing we've only spent one night apart and we were both up til 3 in the morning (yes I am pathetically sad and can't sleep without him).

Besides we're already planning on spending most of the day together so does it really matter if we spend the night sleeping next to each other? I'd much rather wake up the day of our wedding next to my fiance than in some strange room I barely slept in.

How about the rest of you? Is anyone else forgoing the bridal suite in favor of sleeping in their own bed (or at least has my same problem)?

P.S. Lego Batman Rules! It's huge! A lot more like Lego Star Wars. We played for about 3-4 hours last night and just got through one and a half levels on hero. There's still all the ones for Villain and all the free plays.

But I am tired of always having to use the magnetic suit. Stupid robin.

Hurray, we have a honeymoon

I'm sure most normal people would have had their honeymoon all planned and figured out a good 6 months before the wedding, leaving them ample opportunity to purchase lots of clothes (and various other sundries) for the trip.

Well we did ours with about oh 6 weeks to go.

Over this labor day weekend my guy was getting horribly bored (you know he really needs a good nickname like That Guy or Curly Haired Boy. I did call him Bubba for a week when we were first dating or there is his much beloved but never used Dickey-G) so while I was doing some organizing (it's amazing how small magazine get when you rip out all the stuff you don't want) I suggested that maybe he should look into planning the other half of our honeymoon.

I'd many moons ago set about figuring out the first half. We'd sort of decided that we didn't want to go anywhere exotic that required a plane trip and really just wanted to go somewhere where there were lots of trees and nature. So I suggested Minesotta, specifically the Park Rapids area that my family and I would attend when I was younger.

After doing some hunting and searching I found that we could stay in a little cabin at Itasca State Park. This is best known as the Headwaters of the Mississippi. (It's also really pretty, when they aren't doing controlled burns).

We might also make some trips around the area (see Paul and Babe) but the general thought was to spend a few days just relaxing and winding down from the wedding.

You should have seen the look on his Chicago born and raised parents when saying that he'd be spending the honeymoon at a lodge. "Would you be . . . fishing?"

Realizing that yes it may get a tad dull especially in the off season, and he's never been fishing in his entire life, we decided a few days spent in nature and then spend the rest of the week in the twin cities would fit better. Hence his job this weekend.

While he was picking a motel to stay at I got a little idea in my head (first I had to prove that the Mall is in Bloomington, I don't know why I remembered that but I did) and then I started to mess around on one of our all time favorite shows websites, MST3K. It was filmed in the twin cities area (Eden Prairie and yes I know I am a nerd).

I thought it'd be fun to look at their calendar and see if anything might be going on in October. (For those who don't know what MST3K is it's a simple formula, a guy and two robots watch bad movies and make fun of them. It ran for 10 years and was canceled back in '99) I saw a little something called Cinematic Titanic Live!(I've been a pretty bad fan as I had no idea what this was).

It turns out that the last day we'd be in the area some of the originial creators and actors of the show get together at a theatre and riff on a bad movie. So it's basically the show, but live!

Sorry, I am sure that all you Non-MSTies have no idea why it's so exciting but I was much to young when they did some live shows back in the mid 90's and then the poor thing got the boot. So the idea that the one week when we are in the area they are doing a live show is just fantastic and surprising and makes me really really happy (really really REALLY HAPPY!)

Now we just have to figure out what to do the other 4 days. Anyone got any suggestions, aside from The Mall?
