Get by with a little help from my friends

I am asking very nicely for a little bit of help from some of you. Sadly it isn't anything fun or exciting, you won't be trying out the latest roller coaster or sampling various new candy bars to see which one is the chocolatiest.

I've been reading Oscar Wilde's Fairy Tales (yeah he actually wrote fairy tales, I had no idea til picking up a compilation of his works) that really are intended for adults. If you want a sampling read The Birthday of the Infanta. He has an amazing way with parables and short stories and this one is probably my favorite though The Happy Prince is good as well (it's interesting how many of Wildes tales are reminiscent of parables associated with Jesus in some ways).

Okay getting around to the favor. Well I've written my own "fairy tale." I'm a bit loathe to call it that as in this day and age it is associated with little kids, pink, and Disney princesses. I think of it more as a satire on life and society told through a flower garden.

It's only about three pages and I am thinking I may draw or paint something to help illustrate it but before I get that into it I am wondering if it's really worth that much attention.

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to read my little fable that is in a very rough draft form? I don't want to take up space here so I'd just e-mail it to you or get it to you in some other format. If you want to take a little crack just leave a comment.

In the meantime I suppose I should suck it up and at least do an edit or two. Lord how I loathe editing.

Edited to add: Okay so I decided that I would just sort of bury the post in my blog so if anyone wants to read what I have right now just click here. It'll probably go through about 20 permutations along the way but any comments would be great.

I'd be happy to lend a hand and take a look at it. I'm no editor but I'll try to help.

I read it and it made me chuckle. Oh, irony. I think you're trying to make some kind of social commentary on people's vanity. I think that's neat!
Other than that, unfortunately, I'm not a very good critique-r as I usually impressed by everything! (Everything meaning stories that utilize correct grammar, spelling and actually make sense.) So good job!

I think that most really old fairy tales were stories made up to get children to behave. Or at least the Grimm Brothers fairytales were.
