Picture a Day - Day 307

Hello everyone.

It's a brand new day and time to put my nose to the grindstone and blah blah blah. I'm not even going to pretend that this is a good thing or a window opened or any of that clap trap for a week or so.

Losing a job sucks, losing a job you really enjoyed for the first time since getting out of school where you fit in with everyone sucks more than a black hole. So allow we to wallow a bit longer in my misery before I have to something about bootstraps and whatever else the media will convince us is the magical pixie answer to unemployment.

On another tangent completely we've been in the house for three months now and we're still getting "Thanks for moving in" junk mail. Yesterdays was the most entertaining. It was packaged in an envelope that I swear fell out of a Hallmark from the 1970's with the aging browns and burnt siennas of flowers patterned across it.

Inside was mostly junk you get in your sunday paper or in flyers stuffed in the mailbox, ads for Pro-Activ or a save 10% on any $500 purchase from Jam World. Things like that.

I was going to toss it all in the garbage, but then fell out a major blast from the past:I had no idea AOL still sent out these discs. Okay I had no idea AOL still existed. Didn't Microsoft buy it up to hollow it out and feed off its innards like a wasp laying eggs?

Remember the hordes of discs you used to get growing up? The discs that lead to great craft project ideas like mobiles, weird art or even some really cheap wedding centerpiece ideas?

Simpler times, when the worst the internet could offer up was a dancing baby and there was no such thing as a dot.com bust. You know it's gotten bad when I can reminisce and I'm only 26.

And even though we completely forgot to watch last night apparently we were on TV for a quick blink and you'll miss it. Here's the video, we come in playing with my husbands corpse right near the end of the segment (but not the end of the video).

This is where the video would be if the script actually worked right. As it doesn't, here's a link instead.

Yes I really do sound and look that weird. It's a wonder they let me outside.

It does suck losing a job and you have every right to mourn! Hang in there, I have been there and came out on top, which I am sure you will too, it just doesn't feel like it at the moment!

Hey, you are a star, and you looked great on camera too! :)

Yep, it sucks.

Don't worry about looking for the window or silver lining. It's not there.

A few people who have lost jobs in the past told me it ended up being the best thing that could have happened to them! I felt like saying, "thanks for that support, but it still sucks big time. Go away now."

So go ahead and mourn.
